Seasonal British Flowers for October 2023
Well, isn’t this year rolling by at quite a pace? I don’t know about you, but for me November is all about cosy jumpers and twinkly lights as the nights draw in.
Autumn has taken us a little by surprise in the Ford house… We spent the best part of October on the other side of the world! We had a family wedding in the mountains overlooking the Gold Coast in Australia, but before that we made a memorable trip of it by campervanning down through New Zealand. Auckland to Queenstown. It was incredible!

When we left the days were still warm and the evenings were light, and when we got back it was cold, dark and wet! A bit of a shock at how quickly the seasons change in just a few weeks.
But it was so lovely to experience spring again right before winter – in New Zealand their carefully planted cherry trees were in full blossom, tulips lined the roads, and daffodils adorned shop doors. A very welcome sight after that washout summer we’ve had!

We had the pleasure of being immersed in sun soaked seas that made the water look bluer than blue, whilst simultaneously overshadowed by snow capped mountains. Our highlights included a tour of Hobbiton in Matamata (of course!), a guided walk around Whakawerawerawa – the living Maori village in Rotorua, a volcano trek up Mount Taranaki, seals on the sides of the roads in Kaikoura and dolphin spotting off the coast of Akaroa…and the list goes on!

We are back now though, normal business resumes and consultations are in full swing, especially as we are heading into engagement season!
Here’s a list of flowers you can expect in October… If you are planning your wedding next year (or the year after), get in touch! I’d love to hear your ideas. Email me at esme@thehoneyseeker.co.uk
