Real Wedding: Vicky and Marcus’ Whimsical Wedding

It was pre-lockdown when Marcus popped the question, and wedding plans began to fill their free time. A love story that started as college sweethearts, they had built a beautiful life together and were ready to take the next step. What was meant to be a year’s engagement turned into two and many of their plans had to shift slightly, but their original vision remained in place and they were eventually allowed to have an unrestricted celebration surrounded by all of their friends and family.

White and pink was their colour scheme. A popular one for sure. But to add depth they had pale baby pinks, mauve pinks, lilac tones, peaches, creams, and greens – for a whimsical feeling you must embrace the natural flow of colours in nature rather than stick rigidly to one hue. And go one step further with a blush dress, perfectly complimented by the darker tones of your bridesmaids.

The wedding ceremony was held in St. Mary’s church, Bruton. They had simple floral décor inside, with the main floral event adorning the doorway. An arch of roses and hydrangeas framed the couple for their photographs as they left the church as man and wife. They were swiftly showered with large petal confetti – naturally biodegradable and full of colour, large flower petals make for great confetti shots as they show up especially well on camera!

As beautiful as the couple looked however, the star of the show was their golden retriever, Rosie! With a floral collar to match the groomsmen and bridesmaids, Rosie took centre stage walking down the aisle, and was one of the best behaved guests there!

Onto the reception, a short walk across the park behind the church, the couple and their guests continued the celebrations in a grand hall the, likes of something straight out of Harry Potter! A magical space with room to dine, dance, and spill out onto the lawns to play games long into the night. Each table had a circle of wood and delicate pink glass bud vases filled with the most exquisite flowers, boasting a “just picked from the garden” feel. More natural confetti sprinkled on the table clothes (no tiny pieces of plastic decorating this wedding).

With sprinklings of floral arrangements dotted around, the hall was tastefully embellished without overdoing it, and made the most of every bloom. Bouquets went into vases on the cake table, and the church pedestals resituated behind the couple during the wedding breakfast.

The wedding was worth the wait, as all of their loved ones joined them in their celebrations that took place with more enthusiasm and vigour than maybe would have done pre-lockdown.

To finish, some kind words from the couple themselves:

“Esme did a truly wonderful job with our wedding flowers, we couldn’t have been happier with how they all looked! She was very thoughtful and patient when we were sharing our ideas and managed to create exactly what we were after through some very vague instructions on our part.
We loved that she uses local flowers and really felt that our flowers were personal to us.
Nothing was too much trouble, including 5 bouquets, lots of button holes/corsages, church flowers, reception flowers, table flowers and the most incredible flower arch at the church.
We would highly recommend her to anybody looking for stunning flowers for their special day.”
